Fate does not play a larger role in the many stupid decisions Romeo an Juliet made, it was their dependance on Fate and the stars that got them killed. "Will I set up my everlasting rest, And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars" (Act 5, Scene 3). Romeo's dependance on the stars and fate ran right up until he killed himself, when he stated that he and Juliet would finally be free of them. The fact that he felt he needed to get free from fate should have shown that they both were too dependant on fate, Romeo goes on to say that this was all written in the book of fate. "O, I am Fortunes fool" (Act 3, Scene 1, line 11). Romeo says this after he has killed Tybalt, and he is almost blaming fate for Tybalt's death. This happens all throughout the play, Romeo and Juliet never take any responsibility for they actions, they blame them on fate instead. In conclusion Fate did not play a larger role in the decisions that Romeo and Juliet made, in fact it was their dependence on it that cause their deaths.

Chicks in the line of fire
1. The title is very effective as it grabs the readers attention and makes them want to read the article. It is interesting as well.
2. I think this was a good decision as it creates interest and makes the reader want to find more about Natalie.
3. The introductory paragraph gives you an idea of what the Dixie Chicks did to make everyone so angry and it also gives a good understanding of the types of people they are.
4. I think the Journalist is trying to make you feel sorry for The Dixie Chicks and to make the reader sympathetic to their situation "The Dixie Chicks have mass appeal" and "Whether the Dixie Chicks recover their sales luster or not, the choice of single has turned their album release into a referendum". These quotes show some of the ways the journalist is trying to make the reader feel sorry for the band.
5. I think that the journalist was trying to show the world that the band will never give in to their threats and will stay strong no matter what "three Texas women have the biggest balls in American music." this quote shows what they think of the band and gives the reader the idea that they will not give up.
6.The direct quotes gave the reader an insight into what the band thought "I got hot from my head to my toes--just kind of this rush of 'Ohhh, s___.' It wasn't that I didn't agree with her 100%; it was just, 'Oh, this is going to stir something up.'". This is giving the reader a more personal feel.
7.I think this article did well in getting across the writers point. this is because it makes you sympathetic to their situation and gives ou an idea of how strong these women are. For these reasons i think the article was effective in getting across the writers point.
S- The subject of the song is to show how strong the band is and to show that they are not ready to apologise and they never really will be.
P- Its purpose is to tell people they are not sorry for what they did and to tell them that it did not effect them.
E- The song is very emotional. some of that emotion is anger and some is sadness but these emotions are very obvious in the song.
C- see SLIMS
S- The song is very powerful and is extremely well written. It gets its point across the minute you hear the title and the emotive language helps that along. The song is very good.
S-There are nine verses to this song and they all range in size and shape
L-The language used in this song is very emotive. the main emotion they are trying to put across is angry and this is shown through lines like "I'm mad as hell" etc.
I-This song does not have much imagery in it. it explained things but does not really paint a picture.
M-The song moves easily and smoothly. it iv rather fast with breaks between each of the verses.
S-The sound is very angry as well as being very country.

Maus Chapter 4
In this chapter Vladek explains to Artie what life was like after the POW camp. He talks about how the family wanted to live like they did before the war, which wasn't possible because of the Germans. He also speaks about life in an early Ghetto. The main themes in this chapter are War, Family, Survival, Loss and Love. We learn a lot about what Vladek would do to save his family in this chapter. He risked being caught by the Germans doing illegal business so that his family could live reasonably comfortably. Spiegelman uses Language choices and relationships/interactions between characters to tell us the main themes in this chapter. These themes are effective because of the things that happen in the chapter.

Practice paragraphs
3. Describe the character of Raymond and the dynamic between him and Fran.
Raymond and Fran have a very difficult Relationship, this is mainly due to raymonds attitude. Raymond, when first described in the book, was not very polite or considerate. Raymond appears first at Fran's pearents house as Fran's boyfriend. He proves to be not the nicest dinner guest. "So do you two usually go take a piss together?" (p188). "...He wanted to punch the guy who is screwing his daughter!" (p189).The relationship between Fran and Raymond turns south when Fran tries to stab him with a dinner knife. "Catching him completely by surprise,Fran lunged across the table with a knife....." (p192). In conclusion Raymond appears as a rude, inconsiderate character and this is what leads to the demise of his and Fran's relationship.
